Business Owner’s Meet In The Middle Testimonial

March 4th, 2010

The CEO of Evolution Of Style, Jon Mustich, had some great things to say about rendeznew:

My business requires me to meet with clients, many of whom I have never met, in a comfortable atmosphere. Living in Los Angeles picking a place to meet is always a challenge because of many factors. Distance, locations, and of course the biggest of which is traffic! I started using rendeznew as a way to find a central meeting place that would be convenient for both me and my clients. The best feature that I enjoy is the ability to mail directions to each party based on their locations. In addition, if you are going during high traffic times you can click “avoid highways” as a way to give everyone directions in order to get there on time! Generally, I am out of my office so this makes it easy to make the meeting process simple for my clients. I have to say I’ve used rendeznew about 10 times and I think 9 of those times my clients loved the ease of it and it always gives me a great location to meet! Thanks!

Thanks Jon! We appreciate the kind words and hope other business owners enjoy using our services. Keep meeting in the middle!

First Meet in the Middle Testimonial

February 4th, 2010

Shawn from Orange County, CA wrote to us and said:

My wife and I were planning on doing dinner with friends from Los Angeles, CA and friends from Upland, CA.  With us being in Orange County, CA it was hard for us to find a place that was in between all of us.  Using rendeznew.com was simple and solved our problem within a matter of minutes.  We were easily able to find a restaurant with an equal driving distance for all of us.  Thank you rendeznew.com!

We are so happy that our users love our service. Keep the praise coming and we will continue to provide places for you to meet in the middle!

No News is Good News?

January 11th, 2010

Well, it has been a long while since we have posted something on the blog and it is really because there hasn’t been much to report about here at rendeznew. Is that good? I am not really sure but no news is better than fixing bugs and dealing with issues, so in that respect it is good. On the other hand, we haven’t had much progress with our mobile apps and have seen a couple in the appstore that do exactly what we want the rendeznew app to do.

In the new year we are looking to get some news about rendeznew. We are going to try to start with some guest blog posts and some testimonials about the site. If you have used rendeznew in the past with success, tell us your story. We want to hear it!

Thanks for reading and continue to use rendeznew to meet in the middle!

new simple yet useful feature to help meet in the middle

July 28th, 2009

This past week we have been working to add a simple (yet useful and important) feature to rendeznew. We alluded to it in a tweet that we posted yesterday and we figured no one would be able to “find” the feature.

Now to the good part, what is new. If you take a look at the Results Link, you will notice that when a certain meeting point is selected that point will now get sent through with the link. What this means is no more telling your fellow rendezners, let’s meet at Location B, simply cut and paste the link, send it to them, and if you had Location B selected it will show it.

Here is an example of a rendeznew that our friends at Evolution of Style posted a tweet about meeting in the middle, which calls out this rendeznew results link. If you go to this link you will see that Papa’s Porch or Location G is not selected, though Evolution of Style had to call out the place to meet. Now with the new Results Link you will see that Papa’s Porch was selected when the user copied the link. Take a look at these two and compare:

Keep all the feedback coming about easier and better ways to meet in the middle. And thank you so much for the support!

some international internet press

July 24th, 2009

We have had some great internet press in the last couple months which we talked about in a couple of our past posts (lifehacker post, makeuseof post). We are so proud to be featured all over the internet, but it is also fantastic to see our site being talked about all over the globe. We pride ourselves on the fact that our service can be used internationally to meet in the middle. Over at lakestarmedia.com, they did a feature on rendeznew being used in the UK. Take a look and keep the press coming:

Lakestar Media - Rendeznew: Meeting People Made Easier

Thanks for all the praise and comments and we are working on a few minor and major changes which should really help you to meet in the middle that much easier.

we are not afraid - rate us at appuseful

June 18th, 2009

Over at appuseful.com, we were added to the list of most useful web apps. They have a rating system on there site so user can tell each other how useful a web app really is. Go ahead and hit the link and let other users know how rendeznew is. Thanks for the support and thanks to appuseful.com for putting us on their site.

new version of rendeznew uses driving directions

June 1st, 2009

After our feature on lifehacker which I blogged about a week or so ago, we read some of the comments and decided that it was important to use driving directions to calculate our midpoint. You spoke out and we delivered… The new version of rendeznew will use the driving path between two points to calculate the midpoint (and something that we have that our competitors don’t have is the ability to avoid highways). Take a look at the screen shot here and take a look at the site for this example:

rendeznew directions

You can still enter up to four points, but our algorithm will not take into account the driving directions for three or four points. We are still working hard on developing something that will take some of those factors into account for more than two points. But for now, you can still enter up to four points and drag the midpoint to somewhere that is more to your liking. Actually, try it for two locations and see what happens, I think you will like what you see =). Thanks for all the feedback and as always email us or tell us in the comments about any bugs/suggestions/likes/dislikes/concerns (anything) that you want to tell us about rendeznew. Now go try things out and meet in the middle.

rendeznew’s capabilities featured on lifehacker

May 22nd, 2009

Over the past week rendeznew has gotten some serious buzz. I posted last week about our spot on makeuseof.com but now things are starting to balloon. Just do a search on twitter for rendeznew and you will see what we mean (rendeznew twitter search).

All the hype is stemming from our latest feature on lifehacker.com. Check out what Jason at lifehacker thinks of rendeznew:

Rendeznew Locates a Midway Point for Multiple Travelers

I am extremely proud of the fact that rendeznew has been featured on such a large site as lifehacker (one which I read regularly I must add). Not only is it great publicity for the site, but it gives us a real chance to get great feedback from people. Now, I can say that I am working hard to add a feature similar to one of our competitors out there based on all the feedback. Soon, users will be able to get the midpoint for two points along the driving path. This will be a breakthrough for rendeznew and allow everyone much more flexible and accurate results for meeting in the middle.

Thanks again for all the comments, suggestions and praise. If you see rendeznew featured on any other sites or know a site that would like to feature us, please let us know in the comments or through email. Follow us on twitter and become a facebook fan so you don’t miss any updates. Check the blog and site soon because the new version with driving direction midpoints will be up soon (I promise).

safari bug fixed

May 18th, 2009

When I first got my macbook pro to do some iPhone development, I decided that would be a great time to test out rendeznew in safari (though looking back I could have done it on my PC). After playing around for a while I noticed that when someone would change the results set to Google (or Yelp) and then redo a search it didn’t work as expected. There was a race condition in that the results text are would be told to clear the text area before after all the results were returned. What basically was the result was a map with Result Markers but no text in the results field (until the results set was toggled to the other set).

Luckily it was something that was a simple fix, but having been busy lately, I finally got to it this past weekend. Let us know if you spot any other bugs through email or the comments field. Don’t forget you can follow us on twitter or facebook too! Thanks again for all the support.

rendeznew featured on makeuseof.com

May 12th, 2009

It has been a long while since my last post and update. The truth is that we haven’t really changed much with the site but we have been busy promoting the site hard and trying to get the rendeznew name and service out there. It has been successful with a most recent posting on makeuseof.com:

Rendeznew: Find A Midpoint Between Two Addresses

Thanks to everyone for spreading the word about the site and all the kind praise and suggestions. Check back soon for more rendeznew features as they come up.
